Not Just Dolls: Get Your Kids Some Fulla Playsets

Fulla lives the like of a traditional Arab woman whose life revolves around family and home. Kitchen sets and bedroom paraphernalia are sold and also come in its trademark glossy pink.

Fulla at Work
Fulla is a teacher or a doctor, each model sold with their respective paraphernalia. The newest Fulla is her as a dentist. Such choice of careers has been picked as motivators for young girls to be educated and career-oriented.
Its new items include a Singing Fulla and a Walking Fulla, pushing a luggage cart with luggages to hold the dozens of seasonal fashion wear that crowd her cabinet.

Fulla With Friends
For friendship, Fulla has two new friends, Yasmeen and Nada, and will soon be coupled by a little brother and sister.

Fulla With You
But wait. There’s more. You can now carry Fulla umbrellas, ride Fulla bicycles, eat Fulla corn flakes and wear Fulla watches. The product directory runs to almost 80 pages and includes 150 Fulla qualified items, ranging from cameras to CD players to inflatable chairs and swimming pools.

And in spite of a $40 price tag — the maximum price in the Fulla line — patrons snapped up every Fulla Prayer Rug set (which includes a skirt and head scarf, in original Fulla Pink). Fawaz Abidin, Fulla brand manager for New Boy comments "You can put Fulla on anything these days and it will sell."

Since her arrival, Fulla has become a must have among every girl. She is the best-selling girl’s toy in the region, even beating those who have been established for many years. Huge stores that sell Fulla merchandise in the Middle East sell out their Fulla dolls fast, especially during festive seasons.

Fulla catches the eyes of young girls. Stroll into a corner shop anywhere in Syria or Qatar or Egypt and most likely you’ll come across a Fulla breakfast cereal or Fulla chewing gum. Ruman Qamri, 8, steps onto the road pedaling her pink Fulla bicycle. Young girls love her beacuse she’s so chic and has so many attractive outfits. Her outfits are aplenty, and they are released in batches – so girls always enjoy waiting for new ones. Plus, Fulla is made to look not like Barbie, who is blonde and blue eyed, but with brown hair and olive skin, much resembling little girls in the Middle East.
In 2009, Fulla will be having a mini-mall, a playhouse and lots more accessories including new-design abayas, scarves and also glitter gels, reveals Rizwan.
Fulla has now decided to extend beyond textiles and back-to-school knicknacks with Damas introducing a jewellery collection named after her.
